Valor - Bravery - Courage - Gallantry - Daring - Heroism - Guts

if this little pawn can have the Guts to step out in front of the entire enemy army, i think we can have the guts to make it through a day...

DOF was used to make the pawn seem alone and with out help

P.S. thesauruses are very helpful!! =)

I think this is amazing. The enemy pieces in the foreground look so ominous compared to the little worn pawn, with his allies abandoning him and making him go on alone. Okay, maybe a little dramatic but I really do love this. +fav. :)

Very well done focus here. I really like the concept as well. It gives a whole new elevated image of the often overlooked piece in the chessboard - the pawn.

Nice! (yeah this comment isn't helpful at all but I can't think of anything inspiring to write). Or maybe, I get a bit "dizzy" because you've blurred the blackthingies but not the chessboard. If you get what I mean.. hmm.. lol, anyway, it's a nice shot :)

I like the concept. the classic b7w works well with this phot because chess is a classic game. the pawn seems a bit blurred at the top and the foreground is a too blurred.

This is really cool. I love the game of chess and I think this is a great shot. I guess there could be more pieces in the foreground, but it really isn't necessary. Compositionally, I like it. It suits the description well. Also, the lighting, colour, and focus is well done. Great job! :)

you know this is one of my favorite pieces i have done in a long while. its symbolic, technical and pleasing to the eye. so i really appreciate hearing that it is " AWSUM AWSUM AWSUM!!!!" from another person.

thanks Celia!!

Chess ... such a fun subject. I love the checker patterns on a chess board. I love how everything surrounding the little pawn are out of focus. The clarity and texture work so well in this picture. Very nice!

a couple days ago i had an urge to photo some chess pieces, so i did....

thanks for the comments!!

Good idea! I like it. Perhaps if you had the pawn in the center facing down the opposing pieces it would be more dramatic. Nonetheless, I like where you're going with it.

it certainly does look like a lonely pawn. But i agree that maybe a few more 'enemies' could have been useful. But it has a lot of meaning to it.

Great shot!

Maybe if you had more of the enemy pieces in the foreground it would be more ominous and scary for the lone pawn. Just a thought. Still a great shot either way. :)

you see.. i was tring to, but every time i went down to the angle were i could get the enemy pieces i could see out into the background and it kinda made the shot look cheesy. if the background was black, then it would work out.

thanks bro!
