Fruit Fly by killersnowman Fruit Fly by killersnowman
its a fruit fly in some sort of fruit blossom. i just cant believe that he/she stood still long enough for me to get this shot! =) i was using 68mm of extesnion tubes on a 50mm f/2.5 compact macro so the focusing distance was like an inch and a half!!

hope you enjoy!.... =D

 Awesome shot and Kudos for capturing the bugger. This would look awesome in a very sterile white room in a hospital... :D One of the best fly shots I have ever seen. :judge:

Wow that is very close, 1.5in! I am amazed that he stood still with you that close too.. I am not inclined to comment or even look at such closeups of insects.. kinda creeps me out, honestly. But seeing it this close with such focus is very fascinating at the same time. Very good shot!

I really like the focus of this. And how you caught the kind of movment of the fly.
It's very interesting how you caught it and just really unique!

I've seen a lot of fly macros recently, for some weird reason. It's almost a fad. :/

Anyway, it's really interesting how the pollen nodes give a sense of movement. Was that intentional? I love the detail, the proboscis is really a scary thing. :bulletblue:

well... im not sure its a fad, but thanks for the little critique. no, i did not try to give it movement with the pollen nodes, but you are right, it does!

thanks!

Wow. You got a fly to sit still THAT close? That's... pretty cool... ^_^

Flies don't like me- and for good reason- I think they're evil.

To get on with it- I really like this shot. The fly is in really good focus, and the black is nicely blurred. The composition is beautiful. Yet another masterpiece snowman. :)
